This service provides Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificates for servers. SSL is an Internet protocol that encrypts data transferred over the web. Access to encrypted data can only be obtained through a mutual "handshake", in which both of the communicating devices' credentials are verified and the connection is confirmed secure. The primary use of this type of encryption and certification is to verify communication sources and to prevent interception of confidential information and other types of system compromises.
Contact your local CSR for assistance.
There is no charge for use of this service.
There are no standard support procedures for this product. OIT does not support the installation or maintenance of the certificate. The Service Desk will assist the customer in completing the SSL Certificate request form, but nothing beyond that point.
