OIT has implemented several web filtering systems to protect BYU network users. These filters block as much inappropriate material as practical when users access the wired or wireless BYU network. Web Filtering helps to provide a safer environment when browsing the Internet.
If users find that there are web sites that have been inappropriately blocked or need to be blocked, they can contact their CSR or navigate to Website Review.
BYU employees who have a legitimate need to access a site that is blocked can request a Filter Override Role. This will allow the user to access sites normally blocked after authenticating using their Net ID and password. Contact the OIT Service Desk to request this service.
This service is automatically provided to the entire BYU campus on both the wired and wireless networks. This service is not available from off-campus.
There is no cost to use this service.
