Portlets for myBYU are required to go through a series of approvals and testing before being added as a portlet option to the portal. Portlet Registry is the service that houses the workflow for these tasks, as well as placing all the necessary information a portlet is required to provide in a central repository. The registry will include all available portlets for myBYU, as well as the support information for these portlets.
Part of the registry's function is to ensure that each portlet provides the necessary documentation and support details for myBYU portlets. These include, but are not limited to, support details such as availability of the portlet, contact information, testing details, common portlet functions, and any support documentation created by the developer. A developer will submit a portlet for the registry in two steps. The first step will be registering the portlet for approval, and the second will be publishing the portlet for production. These two functions are provided by the Portlet Registry.
The myBYU service description page contains the order form that anyone registering a portlet must fill out. This form will initiate the Portlet Approval process. The myBYU page can be found here.
There is no charge for use of this service.
