When you sign up for Duo Security for BYU, you need to authenticate with a device you have. Usually, this is a cell phone you carry, but sometimes you may want to use a landline.
Note: Landlines are a good back-up, but they typically do not serve well as the only device registered with Duo. If you choose to sign up using a landline, it's a good idea to add secondary devices (a cell phone, tablet, or hardware token) to your account. After all, what happens if you need to log into BYU but you're away from your desk/ not at home?
