|What's the website URL?||X||endorse.byu.edu
Note: You will go to a page that gives many choices. Make sure that you choose the correct one. The process is not the same for new applicants as it is for continuing (current) students.
|What do I do if myMAP says I am a Continuing Student, but the Continuing Student system says I am not?||X||If your endorsement is not current for more than two semesters, you must reapply as a new student.|
|I can't log in||X||You must have a NET ID to log in.|
|I type in my ward name and it says "Results Not Found"||X||Users cannot type the word "Ward". Just type "Springfield" or "Provo 28th". (No quotes)|
|I typed in my Bishop's name but it says "Results Not Found"||X||Users cannot type Bishop Jones. Just type the last name (without the title).|
|I don't see my Ward in the list on the screen called "Find a Unit."||X||Scroll down, there may be many wards with the same name or you made a typing error.|
|I just moved to a new ward, can I choose my new Bishop?||X||The Ecclesiastical Endorsement can only be given by the bishop of the ward in which your membership records can be found. If you want your new Bishop to do your Endorsement, have your records transferred before you continue on with this step. Exit and come back when records are in the correct ward.|
|I attend another Ward that is not my official ward. Can I have that Bishop do my interview and Endorsement?||X||The Ecclesiastical Endorsement can only be given by the Bishop of the Ward in which your Membership records can be found.|
|I chose the wrong Bishop.||X||If you submit an endorsement request to the wrong bishop, you must cancel your current request and submit a new request to the correct bishop.|
|I asked for an endorsement but I'm graduating soon and don't need one for next year.||X||You can cancel your request for a new endorsement at any time.|
|I'm working on some issues with my Bishop, what should I do?||X||Request an endorsement and let your bishop know that you are wanting to get an endorsement.|
|I'm not LDS. What should I do?||X||
New Students First Time Endorsement: Once a non-LDS student has accepted the Honor Code, they will be taken to a screen that asks them 3 questions, of which they will choose one: 1) I am LDS (not applicable to non-LDS), 2) I am not LDS but want to be interviewed by an LDS bishop (of which they will go through the same process as an LDS student by picking a Unit and Leader), or 3) I am not LDS and want to be interviewed by my own ecclesiastical leader (choosing this will take them to a page with a link to a form that needs to be printed by the student, filled out by the ecclesiastical leader, then sent to BYU by the student).
Continuing Students: Non-LDS students are to be endorsed by (1) the local ecclesiastical leader if the student is an active member of the congregation, (2) the bishop of the LDS ward in which they currently reside, or (3) the nondenominational BYU chaplain.
|I don't know my Bishop's name||X||Search by ward|
|I don't know my Ward's name||X||Search by your Bishop's last name.|
|I'm a bishop and I can't find a student on my list.||X||
There are two lists. One is for new applicants and one is for CONTINUING students. If you don't see a student on the list, make sure that you have chosen the correct list for the student for whom you are seeking.
If you can't find them on either list tell the student to start an endorsement request. Don't use the 'Completed' list to make a decision. The 'Completed' list is for looking at past endorsement request decisions and changing them when applicable
|I'm a Stake President and I can't find a student on my list.||X||
Only new students getting an endorsement for the first time can be seen by the Stake President on the new student tab and only after their bishop has completed his decision.
Only Bishops can see Continuing Students on the "Continuing Students" tab. This tab will be blank for Stake Presidents.
See also "I'm not LDS. What should I do?"
|How will I know if it went through?||X||
If you are a new applicant or a continuing student, you can check the status of your endorsement request by going to https://prd.endorse.byu.edu/endorsement/status.htm or by clicking on the "Review my status" link within the endorsement system.
|How long will my request wait for my Bishop?||X||Your request will expire 120 days after you've submitted it. After this period, you must initiate a new request to your bishop.|
|How will I know if the Bishop has endorsed me?||X||At any time you may log back in and check the status of your Endorsement by clicking on the "Review my status" link on the first page. You can also go directly to the status page by going to https://prd.endorse.byu.edu/endorsement/status.htm.|
|Do I have to have an interview?||X||Yes. Using the online process will save you and the Bishop from paper forms, but you still need to have a personal interview.|
|I'm a bishop and I made a mistake on which button to push. What should I do?||X||You may change your endorsement decision at anytime. Click on the "Completed" tab in your queue and click on the the individual who's endorsement decision you need to change.|

If the student is a member; click "Not in Unit" and encourage the student to seek out their correct bishop. They can log back into the system and submit a new request to their correct bishop.
If the student is not a member and he/she asked you for an interview, then please continue the decision process as normal and mark the checkbox that indicates "the applicant's membership record is in your unit or the applicant is not a member of the Church."
|I am a current BYU student who is applying to Graduate Studies, may I use this website?||X||Yes, current BYU students may use this site to apply to Grad Studies. However, although you are a continuing student in BYU's undergraduate program, you must submit an endorsement request as a new Applicant in order to apply to Grad Studies.|
