Return to Television
This is one of the model options for ordering and receiving Campus Television. This is only available to departments on campus. If you are looking for TV access for On-Campus Housing, please access Campus Television from tv.byu.edu.
Each device is registered individually, cost included with set top box rental.
New Set Top Boxes:
Users may order a Set Top Box from OIT that will connect directly to a television or display in an office or public area. They support HDMI, Component or Composite connections. Please visit http://go.byu.edu/settopbox for details on available connections and instructions.
The set-top box password may be prompted for before using the set-top box. The code is 1234 and then press ENTER.
Television access costs are included with the set top box rental, and cannot be combined with an Individual Access Account. To order a Set Top Box, use the Order Form above.
Note: A power outlet and a dedicated wired network connection is required for each set top box. Wired network connections must be ordered separately and are not provided as part of this service.
Existing Set Top Boxes:
Departments that already own/rent set top boxes will need to have OIT inspect the boxes to determine if they are compatible with this service. Each box must be registered, and have billing established or verified. Please contact email@example.com for assistance.
Channels originating from departments or buildings ARE available through this service. The channel guide includes BLDG channels (601-615) for those restricted to your particular building, and CMPS Channels (621-628) that are open to the campus.
Monthly Reoccurring Cost: $11.70
An individual will need to be designated as the contact person for the set top box. An appropriate department account code will need to be provided for setup and monthly recurring charges.
Set top boxes need to be returned to the AV Services Desk located at 1100 ITB, and the service should be canceled.
Building and Campus Internal Television provides the ability for a designated building administrator to distribute local multimedia content (i.e. a live broadcast or video, etc.) over an Internal channel to other rooms/locations within a given geographic area, generally the same building. This can be useful for overflow events where one room/location cannot hold all participants of a class or meeting.
These channels are viewable only through Set Top Boxes or a computer application called VLC. See setup for more details.
