What is myBYU?
myBYU is a portal that lets you create a customized homepage that contains your choice of portlets (apps) and tabs. It offers a single, secure gateway to useful information from BYU and the rest of the web.
myBYU consists of four major parts:
To access myBYU, go to https://my.byu.edu, and log in using your BYU Net ID and password. When you sign in, your identity is authenticated by the Central Authentication Service (CAS) and only information that is relevant to you based on your rights and privileges (as a student, faculty, or staff) is provided. If you have more than one role, you'll see content relevant to all your roles.
The first time you sign in to myBYU you will see a home tab. Under the home tab you will see the “more apps” button which will drop down the options Add Content, Use It, Colors, and Layouts. This is what allows you to make customizations to your myBYU page. Each tab includes a collection of portlets that have been pre-selected for you because of the role(s) you have. However, if you want to change the name of the tab, the order of the tabs, the portlets on each tab, or create your own tabs with the portlets and the layout you want—you can customize myBYU!
To add a tab, click the Add Tab (“+”) button located to the right of the Home tab. Once a new tab is added you can easily change the tab name by clicking on it and typing in your desired name.
To delete the tab, simply click on the tab that you wish to delete and then hover over the tab name and click the “X” to confirm the deletion. The home tab is the only tab you cannot rename, move, or delete. You can learn how to further navigate and customize myBYU by reading the information below or by watching our video tutorials.

How to Use myBYU Mobile
If you have a phone that has internet access, you can now easily access myBYU and all of your personalized information and services through using myBYU Mobile. To get started:
Once the page loads, you’ll notice that the mobile display and layout for myBYU has been reformatted to fit the smaller screen of your mobile device.
Tabs appear in a list form by clicking on the hamburger menu in the upper left-hand corner of myBYU with their portlet titles. Tabs will display the same portlets that you have added in a maximized browser.
View myBYU in Desktop mode:
To add, move, or remove portlets: All changes to your myBYU mobile web app are done while the browser is in desktop mode.
When you log into myBYU, you are authenticated through the Central Authentication Service (CAS). This method of authentication continues to be incorporated into existing sites. Until all sites are upgraded to CAS, you may experience having to log in a second time to some applications. Once you have successfully logged into a site using other authentication methods, you should be able to access those sites without having to re-authenticate again.
Users with multiple roles at the University:
myBYU displays information based on your role at the university. If you have more than one role at the university, (e.g. student and staff) you will see all the content intended for both employees and students.
