Conferencing calling allows multiple phone users to conduct business or conference together through their IP Phones without being in the same physical location. The option to conference with up to 16 people is available through OIT on normal desk phones. Currently, the only way to conference with more than 16 people through OIT is with a specific conference phone model. Any campus phone user can initiate a conference call.
Conference Calling is already a supported feature on the IP Phone. There is no set-up necessary, unless you are wanting to order a specific special conference phone.
Conference Calling is offered free of charge through OIT.
A conference phone is our 8832 Cisco Model and is $225.05 for installation and a monthly recurring charge of $16.30.
What should I do if someone is on a line I need to use?
If you need to join a co-worker's telephone conversation while it is in progress, you may barge into an existing call using Conference Barge. Conference Barge is only available when a line appears on multiple phones. When you barge into an existing call, a beep will signal to the participants on the existing call that a third party has joined the call, and all three individuals will be able to talk together on the same line. Special configuration on all phones involved is necessary to enable this feature. Order this feature using the Change Service form, and a consultant will contact you for details.
How do I end a conference call?
Any person may leave the conference call without interrupting the other participants by hanging up the telephone. If the person who initiated the conference call hangs up, no others may be added to the conference call.
Can I transfer control of a conference call?
Control of the conference call cannot be transferred.
How can I avoid disturbing others in a conference call when I need to leave momentarily?

If I control the conference call, can I force people off the call, or must I wait for them to hang up?
As the owner of a conference call, you can remove any caller from the conference at any time. To do this, you should
You may also remove just the last caller by selecting the More and then RmLstC soft keys. Other parties may always hang up to leave the conference call.
