Software Distribution is a system for obtaining software licensed by BYU. This system allows you to browse software titles, purchase the software and download it directly to your computer. It also keeps track of which software titles you have purchased through the site.
Most applications that BYU has licensed are available to employees, including office productivity suites, web and graphic applications, math and statistical programs and operating systems. A limited set of applications is available to students. Only active students and employees may access Software Distribution. Authentication is required using your Net ID and password.
Note: In some cases, a school email address is required. If you do not have a faculty or employee @byu.edu email alias, you may obtain one @studentbody.byu.edu email alias to use while you are a student at BYU. Additionally [netid]@byu.edu is now automatically added for all active students and employees. The Email Alias Manager page will instruct you on how to obtain this email alias.
Software Distribution can be accessed through http://software.byu.edu or

Faculty & Employee Software:
Some departments have policies that require the Computer Support Representative (CSR) to administer department computers including software installations. If this is the case for you, please contact your CSR.
The purchase records within Software Distribution will reflect only software purchased since January, 2008. To reinstall previously purchased software, contact your CSR.
Some vendors offer maintenance contracts for purchase, which allow users to upgrade to new versions of the software automatically, during the maintenance window.
Customers may view product maintenance they have purchased as well as products which could receive maintenance using the 'Maintenance‛ section. During a vendor-defined 'grace period‛, usually at the beginning of a maintenance contract, this section is also used to purchase new/renewed maintenance.
System administrators and CSRs can proxy access into Software Distribution to purchase and download software in behalf of faculty or employees. For proxy access and instructions, see Software Distribution Proxy Purchase.
There is no charge for use of this service. This does not include the purchase of software.
