This is supporting documentation for an OIT service. For complete service details and order information, visit CAS Single Sign-On. More technical information is available at the Core Authentication site.
There is quite a bit of documentation that can be found at http://www.ja-sig.org. There are community resources available as well. These include the campus WebMasters listserv and the Ja-Sig community (developers of CAS).
OIT will have one or more people monitoring the WebMasters list. While that person will make an effort to respond as time allows and as appropriate, any reports of problems should be directed to the OIT Service Desk.
CAS can return the username or BYU Net ID of the logged in individual; however, any additional information such as directory information (name, email, phone number, etc.) will need to be accessed using APIs or using Campus Active Directory (byu.local).
CAS can be checked by manually going to https://cas.byu.edu/cas/login and logging in with a known valid BYU Net ID and password. A response of "Login Successful" indicates it is functioning properly. To check logging out, go to https://cas.byu.edu/cas/logout.
Check to see if CAS is functioning properly. If not, contact the OIT Service Desk.
There are clients available from Ja-Sig for a number of languages that include code examples in their instructions. The list is available at http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/CASC/Home.
The feedback box, located below, is intended for general comments on this page or service information and NOT for help with specific technical issues you are having with the service itself. If you would like a response to your feedback, be sure to include your contact information or log into it.byu.edu using the login button at the top of this page.
