Open Access Kiosks provide users with many capabilities that Open Access Labs offer. From an Open Access Kiosk, users can browse the Internet, word processes, work with spreadsheets, edit presentations, access or save files on a USB key, send documents to the printer, and perform other functions.
If you need help logging in to a Kiosk, click the Help button at the top of the login screen. In the new window, type a description of your situation in the text box. Click Send and your message will notify a service desk agent who can address problems over an online chat session. This service is available Mon- Fri, 8 am-5 pm.
You may print from select Kiosks to nearby lab print stations. .
Open Access Kiosks have time limits on how long you can use them. Usually, a user is allowed up to 10 minutes on a kiosk. A timer (the yellow box on the desktop) counts down until a user needs to log off or will be forced to log off. A yellow window will pop up intermittently announcing the time remaining. You must save all of your work before your time expires, or your work will be lost when you are forced to log out at the end of your time allocation.
Software applications can be accessed through the Start menu, as in the Open Access Lab environment.
When you have completed your work on a Kiosk, be sure to log out.
